The 7th Gate
Before 1717, the 7th Gate was used by Austrian soldiers to leave the fortress in case of attacks. It was taken out of use and closed and enclosed with a small wall that could easily be torn down. It was closed for 300 years and during the restoration works the gate was reopened and can be used.
The 7th Gate is located in the north part of the fortress. You can reach it by walking on Gemina Street.
It is the only gate through which you can enter directly into the ditches of the Alba Carolina fortress.
What is close to this gate (if you go to the west side of the fortress): Toboșarului Square, The Japanese garden.
