Location of the fountain
The fountain is located in Place Saint-Michel in the 6th arrondissement in Paris.
Saint-Michel Fountain, Paris is a monumental fountain in neo-renaissance style, the work of nine sculptors. The main theme of the fountain is the fight of good against evil.
The Decoration of Saint-Michel Fountain
The columns are made of red marble.
In the center of the fountain is Saint Michael killing the devil.
There are four bronze statues on the top of the columns each one representing a virtue:
- Justice – The statue with a scale and sword
- Prudence – The statue that holds a serpent and a mirror
- Fortitude – The statue that holds a lion’s skin and club
- Temperance – The statue holding the skirt
There are two winged dragons on each side of the fountain.
