Meledic Lake – a mysterious freshwater lake surrounded by salt
It is said that the beautiful Meledic Lake is the only one in the world with fresh water, that exists on a mass of salt. This is due to the fact that the bottom of the lake, over time, has become impermeable, not allowing the salt to reach the water.
Baths in Lake Meledic are not indicated because about a meter away from the shore the water is very cold.
Nearby are mineral water springs, known for at least 200 years. In summer, you can sunbathe and fish here.
Meledic Lake and the Legend of its depth
Legend has it that in the 1800s, a cart full of mineral water barrels crashed into the lake. Rumors began to appear soon that a treasure was actually hidden in the barrels. So the locals and the authorities decided to take the water out of the lake to find the barrels. In vain they tried to dry the lake, but they failed. Since then they have called it the Bottomless Lake.
